Army Begin Inter Brigade 10km Combat Race, 21km Half Marathon Race In Kaduna





















The 1 Division, Nigeria Army, Kaduna, on Monday, started 1 Division inter-brigade 10km combat race and 21km half marathon to improve the mental fitness of personal in Kaduna.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that a total of 120 personnel participating, are drawn from three brigades under 1 Division Nigerian Army, Kaduna.
The three-day event is at the Ribadu cantoment, old site Nigerian defence Academy in Kaduna.
The three brigades include 31 Artillery Brigade, Mina, 1 Division Garrison brigade in Kaduna, and Three Brigade, Kano.
The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army, Maj.-Gen. Mohammed Mohammed, said combat race was an integral part of training in the Army.
He noted that the Nigerian army would not relent toward improving the combat skills of its personnel to face all forms of challenges.Mohammed said that the training was part of the annual Nigerian Army Sports Festival, and also in line with the Army Chief’s vision of having a professionally responsive Army in the discharge of its constitutional role.
He added that the essence of the training was for mental fitness and combat ready.
The GOC said that the exercise would be sustained so as to meet up with identifiable lapses.
The Special Guest of Honour at the event, Retired Maj.-Gen. Shehu Abdulqadir,
said that the race proved that the Nigerian Army was determined and capable of safeguarding the territorial integrity of the country, and urged the army to sustain offensive operations.

Abdulkadir also commended the participants for showcasing team spirit and endurance, stressing that combat race was an integral part of training in the Army.
